Located at the corner of Fort Street and Foul Bay in Victoria, the Oak Bay Bike Building was designed by Franc D’ambrosio of D’ambrosio Architecture+ Urbanism and constructed by Peter Schultze Construction Ltd.
As is evident by the pictures Franc designed the building with a contemporary feel using Rheinzinc panels along the mid section and the roofline of the building and heavy glue lam beams and concrete giving the building a distinctive modern west coast look. The use of glass block in the lower area beneath the display shelving gives the building a look of levetation. The building blends into the neighbourhood beautifully using only the highest quality building products available.
Constructed in 2002/03 the building won a CARE Award for the best commercial building for that year.
